Cutshin, in eastern Leslie county, is located on KY 699 and Cutshin Creek, about seven miles southeast of Hyden. The village was no doubt named for the creek, but the source of that name is obscure. Cutshin or Cut Shin post offices operated at various locations on the creek from 1860 to 1992.
