Fountain Run, Kentucky
Fountain Run, Kentucky

Fountain Run is in Monroe county about 13 miles west of Tompkinsville. It was settled in the early nineteenth century and was initially known as Jimtown or Jamestown, probably named for an early settler. The town was chartered as Jamestown in 1816. Since there was already a Jamestown in Kentucky the name couldn't be used for the post office, so it was renamed Fountain Run for nearby springs.

Fountain Run was incorporated in 1908.

The Fountain Run post office opened in 1847.

The population in 2020 was 217.
