Ohio River

The Ohio River runs for 665 miles along the northern and western boundary of Kentucky, from Catlettsburg, 316 miles from its head at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to its mouth at the Mississippi River near Wickliffe. Other Kentucky cities on the Ohio include Maysville, Newport, Covington, Louisville, Owensboro, Henderson, and Paducah.

Principal tributaries of the Ohio in Kentucky include the Big Sandy, Licking, Kentucky, Salt, Green, Cumberland, Tennessee, and Clarks Rivers.
