Sleettown, Kentucky

Sleettown was a Boyle county community near Perryville. The town was established in 1865 by brothers Preston, Henry, and George Sleet, who had been members of the United States Colored Troops, and was settled by formerly enslaved people after the Civil War. It flourished into the early twentieth century, but was mostly abandoned by 1931. The site of the town is now within Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site.
