Trimble county is in the Outer Bluegrass region of Kentucky. The elevation in the county ranges from 420 to 970 feet above sea level.
It was formed in 1837 from Gallatin, Henry, and Oldham counties. Trimble county was a source of Carroll (1838) county. The county seat is Bedford.
In 2020 the county population was 8,474 in a land area of 151.65 square miles, an average of 55.9 people per square mile.
The equine population was 900 in the 2012 Kentucky Equine Survey.
Trimble county is in the KIPDA Area Development District.
Trimble county was named to honor Robert Trimble, who served in the Kentucky legislature, on the Kentucky Court of Appeals, as United States Attorney for Kentucky, and on the Supreme Court of the United States.
