Allen Springs is an Allen county community about eight miles northwest of Scottsville. With nearby sulphur springs, a hotel opened by 1836. This is probably near the site of Carpenter's Mill.

The Carpenter's Mill post office opened in 1836, was renamed Allen Springs in 1848, and operated intermittently in several locations until near the end of the nineteenth century.
