Blue River is a Floyd county community about four miles southwest of Prestonsburg on the Left Fork of Middle Creek. The Blue River post office opened in 1907 and moved several times along Left Fork over the years, including to the nearby Buckeye Station on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, before moving back to about its original location.
