Climax is a Rockcastle county community about 15 miles northeast of Mount Vernon on KY 1912. The origin of the name is obscure. A Mingo post office opened in 1888, but was renamed Climax later that year. It closed in 1989.
The John B. Stephenson Memorial Forest State Nature Preserve is located north of Climax on Anglin Falls Road.
