Combs Ferry is a Clark county community on the Kentucky River about 10 miles southwest of Winchester. Samuel R. Combs had a ferry across the Kentucky River near the mouth of Lower Howards Creek. He operated the ferry and a warehouse established by his father-in-law John Holder, who died in 1799.
