Disputanta is a Rockcastle county community about 15 miles northeast of Mount Vernon. The name is said to originate in the difficulty of choosing a name for the post office. The community is locally known as Clear Creek.

The Disputanta post office opened in 1886 and closed in 1977. A Reidsville post office operated nearby from 1878 to 1884.
