Drakesboro is a Muhlenberg county town on US 431 about five miles east of Greenville. It was named for an early settler. Drakesboro was incorporated in 1888. A Riceville post office, named for the postmaster, opened in 1882, and was renamed Drakesboro in 1889. The population in 2010 was 515.
