Foxport is in Fleming county near Brushy Fork about 10 miles northeast of Flemingsburg. The community of Fox Port was named for the local Fox family. It was also known as Sugar Loaf, for the nearby hill.

The Foxport post office opened in 1880 and closed in 1915.
