Glen Springs, Kentucky
Glen Springs is a Lewis county community on Big Branch of Salt Lick Creek about 13 miles southwest of Vanceburg. The area was popular in the nineteenth century for vacations at the several springs and there were hotels, etc. The name Glen Springs comes from its location in the valley. (It was sometimes spelled Glenn Springs.) The name Esculapia Springs is said to come from Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine.
An Esculapia Springs post office opened in 1847 and closed in 1851. The Marine post office opened in 1857, was renamed Esculapia Springs in 1879, and closed in 1895. A Glenmont post office opened in 1900, was renamed Glen Springs in 1901, and closed in 1958. The post offices were in various locations.
