Hunnewell, Kentucky

Hunnewell is a Greenup county community on Cane Creek about 12 miles south of Greenup. The community grew around the Greenup Furnace, an iron furnace built in 1845. The Hunnewell station on the new Eastern Kentucky Railway opened in 1868. The railroad company bought the furnace and operated it until 1889. The railroad closed about 1926.

The Hunnewell post office opened in 1874 and closed in 1950.
