Bluestone, Kentucky

Bluestone is a Rowan county community on Triplett Creek about five miles southwest of Morehead. Communities in the vicinity have also been known as Rockville and Freestone, the names all coming from the local sandstone that was quarried for construction and other uses into the 1930s. The Freestone post office opened in 1883, was moved and renamed Bluestone in 1920, and closed in 1960.
