Burnwell, Kentucky
Burnwell is a Pike county community on Tug Fork about 30 miles northeast of Pikeville. It was named for the Burnwell Coal Company, which operated mines in the area. Burnwell is closely associated with nearby Stringtown and they are considered the same community by some.
The Burnwell post office operated from 1949 to 1995.
