Cold Spring is a Campbell county city on the northwest of Alexandria. It was settled beginning in the late eighteenth century, then known as Reese's Settlement, and was known for a local spring by the early nineteenth century.

Cold Spring was incorporated in 1941.

The post office operated from 1832 to 1958.

The population in 2010 was 5,912.
