Edenton, locally known as Poosey, is a Madison county community about 15 miles west of Richmond on Poosey Ridge between Silver Creek and Paint Lick Creek. The sources of the Edenton and Poosey names aren't known.

The Edenton post office opened in 1867 and closed in 1954. There was a Posey post office in Madison county from 1846 to 1858, but it isn't clear where it was located or if there was any connection to Poosey Ridge.
