Frances, Kentucky
Frances is a Crittenden county community about 12 miles south of Marion. It was an agricultural community known as Crossroads and Needmore, but later revolved around fluorspar mining. The name Frances apparently was chosen to have a unique name for a post office and came from the wife of then president Grover Cleveland. The Frances post office opened in 1886, closed in 1887, reopened in 1888, and closed in 1908.
