Kite is a Knott county community about 20 miles east of Hindman on KY 7 and the Right Fork of Beaver Creek south of Topmost. The Kite post office, named for the bird, opened in 1907 near the mouth of Bates Branch. It later moved to the mouth of Mullins Branch.
