Krypton is a Perry county community on the North Fork of the Kentucky River about 10 miles northwest of Hazard. The name Krypton may come from deposits of the gas found nearby and was the name used by the station on the railroad. A Glenn post office opened in 1907 and was renamed Krypton in 1918.
