La Center, Kentucky
La Center, Kentucky

La Center is a central Ballard county city on US 60 and KY 358 about eight miles northeast of Wickliffe. It was established in 1903 and originally named Maryville for the daughter of Margaret Davis, the owner of the land. The name La Center, derived from the town's location in the county, was used for the post office – perhaps because the name Maryville was already in use. The name is sometimes spelled as one word: LaCenter. La Center was incorporated circa 1905. The post office opened as La Centre in 1903 and was later changed to La Center. The population in 2010 was 1,009.
