Monkeys Eyebrow, Kentucky

Monkeys Eyebrow is a Ballard county community about 20 miles north of Wickliffe. It sits on Sand Ridge about two miles from the Ohio River. There are many stories about the name, many involving a hill said to resemble an eyebrow. The peak population in the area was probably in the early twentieth century when there was a river landing, a mill, and several stores.

Monkeys Eyebrow was never incorporated and never had a post office.

Near Monkeys Eyebrow was near the site of the Ohio River Lock and Dam 53, the last of the original Ohio River locks and dams. It was also the last replaced. The modern Olmsted Locks and Dam is just downstream. The old upstream Lock and Dam 52 was near Cecil.
