Pippa Passes is a Knott county town on Caney Creek about five miles east of Hindman. The town was named for the work by Robert Browning in 1917, but had been known as Caney Creek or simply Caney.

Pippa Passes was incorporated in 1983.

The Pippapasses post office opened in 1917 and was renamed Pippa Passes in 1955.

The population in 2020 was 584.

Pippa Passes is the home of Alice Lloyd College.
