Sacramento is a southern McLean county city at the intersection of KY 81/85 and KY 254 about five miles south of Calhoun. The settlement was first known as Crossroads, but the first post office opened in 1852 as Social Hill. The town was established in 1854 and called Sacramento, probably for the place in California. Sacramento was incorporated in 1860. The post office was renamed Sacramento in 1861. The population in 2010 was 468.
The Civil War Battle of Sacramento took place in the area in and around Sacramento in December, 1861.
