Ages is a Harlan county community about five miles east of Harlan the mouth of Ages Creek on the Clover Fork of the Cumberland River. It was established in the late nineteenth century. About 1914 the Ages Ridge Coal Company and railroad arrived which caused an increase in population.

The Ages post office opened in 1892, closed in 1896, and reopened in 1912. In 1975 the Ages and nearby Brookside post offices were combined into a new Ages-Brookside post office. It closed in 2017.
