Brassfield is a Madison county community on KY 499 about eight miles southeast of Richmond. It was a station on the Richmond, Nicholasville, Irvine, and Beattyville (RINEY-B) Railroad and named for James Brasfield, an early Madison county settler. The site may have earlier been known as Centreville. The Brassfield post office opened in 1893 and closed in 1934.
