Saint Joseph is a Daviess county community about 10 miles west of Owensboro. A church was built in 1854 on the site of the later Saint Alphonsus Church. The Saint Joseph Academy was established in 1861. It later became the Mount Saint Joseph Academy or the Saint Joseph Female Ursuline Academy.
