Stony Point, Kentucky
Stony Point was a Bourbon county community on the Winchester Pike (KY 627) about seven miles southeast of Paris. It may be named for the 1779 battle at Stony Point, New York in the American Revolution.
Post offices named Stoney Point or Stony Point operated intermittently at the location from 1858 to 1892.
Just north of Stony Point was the Stony Point Academy (also known as the Fox Academy) that was run by John W. Fox in the mid-nineteenth century. It was the birthplace of the writer John Fox, Jr., author of The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, The Trail of the Lonesome Pine, and other books.
