Tyewhoppety is a Todd county community about 17 miles north of Elkton. The source of the name is obscure. It may originate from a word in a Native American language. It is also spelled Taiwopety, Tywappity, and Tywoppity. It isn't clear when the name came into use, but it may have been in the 1890s.
Tyewhoppety apparently never had a post office.
