Broadwell, Kentucky
Broadwell is in Harrison county about six miles southwest of Cynthiana on the old Lexington – Covington road. It was named for Asbury Broadwell, an early settler. It was a village with some commercial activity until the area was bypassed by the railroad between Lexington and Cynthiana.
The Broadwell post office opened in 1833 and closed in 1900.
Broadwell is on the edge of the Griffith Woods Wildlife Management Area, which protects over 700 acres of varied habitats including remnants of open savanna-woodland that existed before European settlement.
