Cordia is a Knott county community about 19 miles southwest of Hindman on Lotts Creek. (Cordia is about 10 miles from Hazard in Perry county.) The source of the name Cordia is obscure.

The Cordia post office opened in 1899, moved a short distance in 1933, and closed in 1957.

Cordia is the home of the Lotts Creek Community School, which was founded as a settlement school in 1933 by Alice H. Slone, who was from nearby Caney Creek. As the Cordia School, it is now a Pre K-12 school in the Knott County School District.
