Cumberland, Kentucky
Cumberland, the largest town in Harlan county, is on the Poor Fork of the Cumberland River at the foot of Pine Mountain about 23 miles northeast of Harlan.
Cumberland was incorporated in 1917.
The post office opened as Poor Fork in 1837 and was renamed Cumberland in 1922. The population in 2010 was 2,237.
Cumberland is the home of Southeast Community and Technical College and Kingdom Come State Park.
Cumberland, Benham, and Lynch have been designated Kentucky Trail Towns.
